Folkways Brewing
A moment to unwind in the city.
Tucked away in Koto Ward's Hirano neighborhood, Folkways Brewing serves fresh beers brewed in on-site tanks alongside a curated lineup of savory snacks, from white-mold salami to iburigakko.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Behind the glass partitions at Folkways Brewing in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, fermentation tanks stand in plain view as freshly poured house craft beer fills your glass. The rotating taps cover a welcoming spectrum, including crisp IPAs with refreshing grassy notes and gentle bitterness, as well as fruity session IPAs underpinned by rich cereal malt flavors. Pours are available in 2 different glass sizes, making it easy to sample and compare contrasting styles to match your mood.
A compact food menu is designed to lift the flavors of the beer without weighing you down. A steady customer favorite, white-mold salami paired with iburigakko (smoked daikon pickle), marries rich umami and smoldering smoke against the malt backbone and hop bite. More casual bites include tender smoked duck, a refreshing pasta salad with olives and cottage cheese, and spiced curried giant corn. For heartier cravings, you can opt for a warm grilled cheese sandwich or savory bratwurst served with sauerkraut.
The minimalist interior balances warm timber and raw concrete, fitted with counter seating and standing room alongside an outdoor area where you can catch the breeze. Open from late Friday afternoon through the evening, and starting in the early afternoon on weekends, it makes a comfortable stop to unwind over a drink after exploring the nearby Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo or strolling the neighborhood.
